AAAC Candidate – Eaton

Michael P. Eaton, MD, FASA

University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry

Dr. Eaton was born in upstate New York, and moved to Michigan at age 11. He obtained a B.A. in Psychology at the University of Michigan and his M.D. at Michigan State. He has spent his entire career as faculty at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, starting as a cardiac anesthesiologist, and rising to Cardiac Division Chief, and then Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in 2008. He has served as the Denham S. Ward Professor and Chair since 2011. Nationally, Dr. Eaton has served in many appointed and elected positions if the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, including six year in the leadership of the Scientific Program Committee planning the Annual Meeting and Workshops. He also served on the SCA Board of Directors, from 2011 – 2014, 2016 – 2020, and 5/2021 – Present. He served on the Board of Directors of the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists from 2017 – 2020, and was a member of the ASA House of Delegates from 2017 – 2020. He currently serves on the ASA Committee on Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesia, and has been a Commissioner of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Program from 2015 – present. I would like to join the leadership of the AAAC as a Councilor to help a great organization become even better. Specifically, while I have found the SAAAPM annual meeting of enormous value year after year, I think we have room to grow. I would like to bring my experience in planning the SCA annual meeting to improve on what AAAC already does well, apply the science of adult learning, and provide for a more varied program than single speakers at the podium.
