Leslie Coker Fowler, EdD, MEd

Leslie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from Clemson University and a Master’s in Education from Southern Wesleyan University. From 2009-2013, she served as Program Manager for the anesthesiology residency and fellowship program in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at Medical University of South Carolina. In 2014, she accepted her current faculty position as the Director of Education, Development, and Research in the Department of Anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. In this role, she is actively involved in curriculum development, delivery and evaluation for anesthesiology residents. She is working to expand the educational offerings within the department, including having been the instructional designer/curriculum developer of the over thirty anesthesia specific courses in VSTAR Learn, a Moodle based learning management system. Her professional activities within VUMC include serving as member of the Program Evaluation Committee for the Anesthesiology Residency Program, and the Clinical Competency Committee, VUMC School of Medicine Portfolio Coach, the VSTAR Advisory Committee as well as being a member of the Instructional Design Working Group. Outside of VUMC, she is a member of SAGE, Study Group for Anesthesiology Graduate Education and IARS, International Anesthesia Research Society.
