AASPD Candidate – Chatterjee

Debnath Chatterjee, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Debnath Chatterjee is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Children’s Hospital Colorado and University of Colorado. He received his medical degree from India and completed his anesthesiology residency training at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. Subsequently, he pursued a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Chatterjee has served on the faculty of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Univeristy of Colorado since 2009. He became the program director for the pediatric anesthesiology fellowship in 2014. He has been an active member of the Pediatric Anesthesia Program Directors Association (PAPDA) and was elected as an “at-large” member of the PAPDA Board of Directors in 2016.

Dr. Chatterjee has been actively involved in several professional organizations including the ASA, SPA, ABA and IARS. He is an oral board examiner for the ABA part 2 examination and a question author for the ABA MOCA minute program. Dr. Chatterjee’s academic interests include novel methods of education for anesthesiology residents and fellows. He is one of the pediatric anesthesia section editors in OpenAnesthesia.org and develops monthly video podcasts on core topics in pediatric anesthesiology. He is also actively involved in the pediatric anesthesia section of the Anesthesia Toolbox project. Addtionally, Dr. Chatterjee’s clinical interests include anesthesia for fetal interventions and he serves as the Director of the fetal anesthesia program at the Colorado Fetal Care Center.

As a member of the AASPD, Dr. Chatterjee has enjoyed networking with other core and fellowship program directors. As an AASPD councilor, he looks forward to the opportunity to represent clinical educators, promote collaboration among academic anesthesiology departments and advance subspecialty training in anesthesiology.
