AAPAE Candidate – Davis

Rebecca Davis

UT Southwestern Medical Center

I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2005 with a Bachelorette in Arts. I trained my entire life as an actress, singer, and dancer then somehow…found myself in Medicine five years later. After 4 years in UTSW University Hospital Surgical Services, a position that brought me great joy and satisfaction, I transferred to GME with the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management in November of 2015. As an Education Coordinator, I managed all of our 6 (at the time) Fellowship Programs as well as functioning as the “unofficial” coordinator for the Residency Program. In May of 2018, I officially took over as the lead GME Program Coordinator for our Division and “officially” assumed the role as the Program Coordinator for our Residency Program. I continue to enjoy developing this role as well as mentoring our two newest members of the team in their roles as GME Program Coordinators for our Fellowship Programs.

My career passions include systems improvement, mentorship, process and procedure improvement, and trainee engagement. I am a member of our institution’s Program Coordinator Advisory Committee and function as a one of our institution’s MedHub super-users. Of note, I will sit for my TAGME certification in the Fall of 2020. When I’m not working, which seems to be harder to do while working from home, I most enjoy reading, Netflix’ing, and cooking…as long as it doesn’t involve a lot of chopping!
