AASPD Candidate – Wright

Thelma B. Wright, MD, Esq

The University of Maryland School of Medicine

Dr. Thelma Wright completed her medical studies at the Howard University College of Medicine. She then completed a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville where she also did her Pain Medicine fellowship. She is double-board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. She is currently the Medical Director of the University of Maryland Pain Management Institute and also the Program Director for the Pain Medicine Fellowship program. Dr. Wright is also an Attorney and is a member of the Bar in the State of Maryland. She served on the Advisory Board for the recently promulgated State of Maryland Prescription Drug Monitoring Program. She also peer-reviews cases for the Maryland Board of Physicians. She has been awarded the U.S. News and World Report Top Doctor designation in Pain management on multiple occasions. Dr. Wright is currently interested in the use of Medical Cannabis and its role in offsetting the use of chronic opioids.

On a personal note, Dr. Wright is a mother of three girls.
