AAPAE Candidate – Cannon

Malin E. Cannon

Riverside University Health System

Malin is the Residency Coordinator for the anesthesia residency program at Riverside University Health System (RUHS), located in Moreno Valley, CA. Six years ago, when Malin started in her coordinator position, the program was accredited by the American Osteopathic Association. However, with an anticipation of a merger between the accreditation bodies, she always stayed up-to-date on both AOA and ACGME program requirements. The program was, in fact, the first AOA anesthesia residency program to acquire ACGME initial accreditation under the single accreditation system. While at RUHS, Malin has been involved in several institution-wide GME activities that have facilitated her professional development and commitment to residency education.

Before joining RUHS, Malin worked as a credential multiple subject teacher in the K-12 public school system. With a background in education, the entry into graduate medical education has been a successful and rewarding transition for her.

Malin grew up in Finland on a small group of islands and moved to California about 20 years ago. She has two kids and spend most of her weekends at swim meets, rugby tournaments, Girls Scout activities, or helping out with homework and school projects.
